Puppy Pre-K is a 6-week class for 8-20 week old puppies. This class is continuing enrollment, so you can start after completing an orientation with our puppy coordinator. Each week we focus on providing positive play, handling and socialization experiences to help build solid foundations for a well-adjusted dog. We give you the tools to build a positive and long-lasting relationship with your puppy.
During class we cover socialization strategies, manners for well-behaved puppies, handling for puppies that love the vet and groomer, and basic obedience skills to carry over into our Family Manners Classes. Finger Lake's Pet Resort's obedience training programs are based on current scientific research on animal behavior and the recommendations from the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behaviorists, here. Our training methods are Positive Reinforcement based, and focused on Relationship building, force-free training for a happy, engaged puppy that is eager to learn.
Why is early socialization for puppies important? See the AVSAB's Position Statement on Puppy Socialization, here.
